A Warmer Winter has Been Predicted for Bismarck-Mandan

Winter will be here before you know it but it looks like it might be tolerable in the Bismarck-Mandan area this year. 

School is officially in session, pumpkin spice everything is filling the shelves, and the weather is getting cooler. This all leads to one thing...winter. As we all remember, December brought tons of snow and some cold temperatures this past year.

According to the Farmer's Almanac long-range weather forecast, we can expect a warmer than normal winter. Although some people enjoy the cold, I couldn't be more excited. Here's what the Farmer's Almanac predicts:

Winter will be warmer than normal, with slightly above-normal precipitation. The coldest periods will be from late November into early December and from late December into early January. Snowfall will be below normal in the north and above in the south, with the snowiest periods in mid- and late November, mid- to late December, and early to mid-March.

Even though the temperature looks good, slightly above-normal precipitation is predicted. Let's just hope it doesn't mimic the Christmas Eve storm of 2016.

The Farmer's Almanac claims their predictions are 80% accurate. Sadly, they have predicted that April and May will be cooler this year as well. Low rainfall is also predicted for summer 2018. Let's hope that isn't true!
