An invasion of old people expected as Bismarck has become North Dakota's first "age friendly" community.

The City of Bismarck has announced that we've become the first North Dakota Community to hook up with the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities.  So what does that mean? Well AARP North Dakota State Director Josh Askvig summed it up like this...

Membership in the network shows that a community’s elected leadership is committed to working with residents and advocates to make their town, city, county or even state a great place to live for older adults and people of ages,

This should quite nicely dovetail into Bismarck's comprehensive plan Together 2045.

So not only will we be improving the livelihood of elders in our community, but we'll be catching the attention of a generation of geriatrics that will then flock to Bismarck like it was German Night at the Moose Lodge!   Old folks have particular needs.  How can Bismarck possibly hope defend itself from all these elderly "immigrants" coming to crash the Capital City?

Bismarck, we need to start planning now!
