BisMan-FIRST Thing You Do If You Are Pulled Over At Night
Personally, this is an absolute no-brainer thing to do when you are pulled over at night
This came up in conversation the other day with a couple of friends of mine. My buddy was pulled over in a fairly dark area of Bismarck, street lights were a couple of blocks away. He told me that the officer who made the traffic stop on him around 11:30 at night appeared on the nervous side, and well obviously that made HIM nervous as well. Of course, I KNOW my friend is not some suspicious-looking character or that he drinks and drives, but the police officer doesn't know that, and it's dark and late out. So what should be the first thing you do if you are pulled over at night?
Now put yourself in a police officer's position...
...unless there was a serious reason why you just made a traffic stop, or not, if the area is pretty dark, you want to make sure you see both of the driver's hands. If I walked up to the vehicle and saw the car's dome lights on, and both hands on the steering wheel, that would relieve some stress right there. When someone moves around agitated inside their car, that would be a first red flag to me, doesn't that make sense?
It really does just take a second to take a deep breath and make it as easy as possible for you and the police
So just remember in the near future, if you are pulled over, collect yourself, be calm, and make it as stress-free as possible for you and the police officer
