As a morning host on a Bismarck/Mandan radio station, I try to keep listeners up-to-date with local road construction that could put a snag in your schedule. I figured this would be a great place to share this information in case you missed it in the morning.

It's not ALARMING information but it might make your journey more hassle-free.

The work zone season is slowly getting underway and there are a few major roadways that are undergoing construction projects.  Not to worry Mandan, you'll get your share of construction soon enough once the epic Memorial Highway makeover gets underway. If you've got a moment, here's a story of the plans to rip up the strip.

But here's a quick heads up from BismarckND.gov

7th Street Lane Reduction/Bismarck

Starting 7:00 AM, Wednesday, May 18, 2022, on Seventh Street south of Thayer Avenue, the west outside lane will be closed to traffic.

Mid-block between Thayer Avenue and Broadway, there will be a second transition to remove the adjacent lane resulting in two southbound lanes at Broadway through Sweet Avenue.

Exclusive right turn lanes will be in place at Broadway and Main Avenue. The contractor will be working on bursting the water main on 7th Street at Front Avenue.

The lane reduction will be in place for approximately ten days. Front Avenue will be open to east/west traffic.

 Front Avenue Closure

Didn't you just read that Front Avenue will be open to east/west traffic?

Well, about that...

Starting 7:00 AM, Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Front Avenue between 5th Street and 7th Street will be closed to through traffic.

The contractor will be working on installing a new water main. This closure is expected to be in place the next two weeks. No detour is in place.

East Avenue C Closure

This has been underway for awhile.  This press release was from May 11, 2022

East Avenue C between 9th Street and 12th Street will be closed to through traffic. The contractor will be working on replacing the water main on 10th Street.

This work will be taking place for approximately ten days. Access to residents will be maintained.

Detour routes will be provided. Eastbound detour will be 9th Street to Avenue D to 12th Street back to Avenue C and westbound will be 12th Street to Avenue B to 9th Street

Speaking of East Avenue C

Starting Wednesday, May 18, 2022, the parking lane on the south side of East Avenue C between 7th Street and 9th Street will be closed to parking. The contractor will be working on directional boring conduit between 7th St. and 9th St. This work will be taking place through the end of the week.

So there ya go. But wait, every good PSA statement ends with the following...
