Many people know about Buckstop Junction on the east end of Bismarck off of east Main, but many people don't know about the hidden secret at Buckstop Junction. In the basement of the hotel or the main building with all the wedding dances is a train set.

The train set is huge and is really something a person needs to see in person to believe actually how big it is. The name of the train club is the Dakota Central & Western Model Railroad. The club was established in around 1995 and the model layout has grown since then. The club is always open to adding new members that want to run their HO scale trains.

The club is open for anyone who just wants to come and check it out, but they would love to add new faces out there. If anyone wants to run their train engines and train cars, the first time is free but after that there would be a fee. The train club does have Digitrax controls. Model railroading is a great hobby to get into and is enjoyable. Anyone that wants to run engines must bring their own engine. The club charges $20 a month fee for members or a $200 a year annual fee if you want to pay it all at once and they do take donations.

I first went to Buckstop Junction when I was really young and loved going out there on Thursday nights. It was awesome to just go there and watch all the great trains run around on the track. If you would like more information about going to see the train set or becoming a member contact Ike at cb.aich@bis.midco.net
