Winter’s Over, But North Dakota’s Real Challenge Is Just Beginning
We have spring, we have summer, we have fall, and we have winter. Those are the only seasons we have, right? WRONG.
North Dakota has a fifth season, and many of us are dreading it.
You know what I'm talking about. I'm sure you've seen signs popping up all around town.
Construction season stretches across both spring and summer, and it is the absolute worst. We are just trying to enjoy the very few warm weather months we get, and all of a sudden, BOOM, we're hit with reduced lanes, cones everywhere, and the ultimate inconvenience: closed exits.
I'm sure you're aware that Exit 161 in north Bismarck will be under construction with the interchange reconstruction project. This has already started. Information on that can be found at Dot.nd.gov.
The city of Bismarck also has some road construction happenings.
To get a better idea of what you can expect from the projects, BismarckND.gov has explained what will be happening with each of the highlighted projects.
I'm sure you've heard a major project on Memorial Highway will begin this year. On April 1st, we will begin Phase 1 & 2 of the construction project. For more information on that and other road projects throughout Mandan, they have several maps and announcements you can access at CityOfMandan.com.
Preparations are already underway for many projects, and you might have noticed some have already begun.
While we are happily saying goodbye to winter in North Dakota, we must brace for another challenge.
Also, thank you to all of those who work tirelessly on these projects while we gripe and complain; you are very much appreciated.
