Popular Drug Store To Close 270 Stores: North Dakota Impacts
A very popular drug store that is very present in the state of North Dakota is set to close 270 stores in 2025.
It is a very common drug store in our larger North Dakota cities that you probably frequent either for your prescriptions or to shop for your medical needs.
This particular drug store has two locations in Fargo, one in Grand Forks and Minot, and two in Bismarck.
The drug store set to close 270 locations across the United States is none other than CVS Pharmacy.
According to Money Digest, this is all part of a restructuring plan by the company and isn't a sudden move. It all began back in 2021 when CVS announced it would be closing 900 of its stores over the course of three years.
Here we are in 2025, and this would be the final phase of CVS Pharmacies' 3-year plan.
What precipitated this mass shutdown? You guessed it: none other than online shopping. Online shopping has affected so many brick-and-mortar stores across the country, and even pharmacies are being impacted.
I know even my health insurance at work has been trying to get me to switch to online prescriptions. I haven't caved yet, as thoughts of porch pirates and potential mix-ups with deliveries have kept me going to CVS at least monthly. Yep, I am a CVS customer as well.
The question that still remains is whether this final phase of closures affects any of our North Dakota CVS Pharmacies.
There has been no announcement as of yet on specific stores closing across the country. If we are going strictly by the numbers, you would think it could be a possibility.
