I can still taste the butter brickle ice cream from the Schwan's truck when I was a kid.

The excitement of seeing that pale yellow truck cruising down my neighborhood street is still etched in my mind from my childhood.

Schwan's of course would rebrand to "Yelloh" and they would eventually pull out of North Dakota back in October of 2023. At that point, Yelloh decided to focus on 18 states, including South Dakota, and Minnesota, but that meant the delivery trucks would no longer operate in North Dakota.

At the time, Yelloh said the decision was difficult due to economic struggles, rising costs, and the post-pandemic world.

North Dakota customers could still order items by phone or online and have them shipped.

It looks like that option for North Dakotans will be going away soon. Yelloh, formerly known as Schwan's is most known for their ready-to-heat meals, along with pizza, ice cream (my personal favorite), and other side dishes.

Now, according to KX News, after 72 years of operation, Yelloh delivery trucks will make their final runs on November 8th and the business will shut down permanently after that.

The Minnesota-based company announced on Monday that its closure would affect all of its employees.

The reason stated for closing was due to several insurmountable challenges to the business, including pandemic-driven staffing shortages and supply chain disruptions.

I know one of our employees here at Townsquare Media, who still orders from Yelloh, says it has become increasingly difficult to find certain items on Yelloh's menu available such as beef tips and certain kinds of pizza.

The end of an era for sure.  So long Yelloh.
