Megadeth Bassist David Ellefson’s Older Brother Eliot Dies of Cancer at 51

Sad news to report from the family of Megadeth bassist David Ellefson. The legendary musician's brother Eliot Gordon Ellefson has passed away at the age of 51 after a two-year battle with cancer.

Eliot was David's older brother, so we can't imagine the sadness Megadeth's bassist must feel after losing a member of his family he looked up to. David Ellefson wrote about Eliot in the his 2013 autobiography, 'My Life With Deth.'

"I loved the farm [where I was raised, about six miles north of Jackson, Minnesota], but I didn’t love farming quite so much, so my brother, Eliot, was always the one who was going to take it over from my father when the time came," writes Ellefson. "He showed an aptitude for farming from a very young age. When I started getting into music at eleven or twelve, Eliot was focusing on being disciplined and working around the farm."
