In 2010, actor Michael Douglas was diagnosed with throat cancer, which he had said was caused by drinking and smoking. Now, Douglas is blaming another "activity" for his condition: Oral sex.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Douglas was asked if he regretted the years of drinking and smoking that led to his cancer diagnosis. His response was rather revealing:

No. Because without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV [human papillomavirus], which actually comes about from cunnilingus.

After the interview was published, Douglas and his agent did a little back-peddling, releasing the following statement:

Michael Douglas did not say cunnilingus was the cause of his cancer. It was discussed that oral sex is a suspected cause of certain oral cancers as doctor's in the article point out but he did not say it was the specific cause of his personal cancer.

So, oral sex CAN cause this form of cancer but it isn't necessarily the reason for Douglas's cancer. Are you confused? Me too.

What I'm NOT confused about is the fact that oral sex can cause cancer. Safe to say, I won't be venturing down that road any time soon.
