Though there was still the possibility of being invited to a handful of tournaments, the North Dakota State Bison have decided to stay home this postseason.

According to InForum, NDSU head coach Dave Richman has stated that the team will begin focusing on next season, as opposed to participating in one of the lesser-known postseason tournaments.

The Bison had an opportunity to secure an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament with a Summit League championship tournament win, but they were defeated by South Dakota State in the championship game 67-59.

Another option would have been the NIT, which is the premiere tournament for team's that don't make the NCAA Tournament, but the Summit League regular season champion, Indiana Purdue-Fort Wayne, received that invitation.

So, the Bison were left with the possibilities of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament, the College Basketball Invitational, and a new tournament in Las Vegas, according to InForum. Instead of accepting an invite to one of those tournaments, the Bison will simply stay home and prepare for the 2016-17 season.

The Bison will return much of their 2015-16 roster next season, as the current roster only features two seniors, guard Kory Brown and forward Chris Kading.
