New businesses are popping up all over Bismarck-Mandan, but this one is a little different.

Calling All Local Photographers

"The Loft on Main" now occupies a storefront on historic Main Street in Mandan; it's a place local photographers can rent and use as a studio(s). How cool is that?

People do need spaces for these types of things, and what better place to do it? On top of it being in a central location, it really is a cool spot with quite a bit of Mandan history tied into it.

The History Of The Building

The owners of the space put a lot of work into updating everything and making it an ideal space to take photos. They say on their website, that a fire broke out in 2020, and the property needed a lot of work. You might recall that a fire in the adjoining Lewis and Clark Hotel broke out and displaced more than 50 residents; it was being used as an apartment building at the time. Anyway, the fire exposed not only some beautiful brick, but it spurred on some inspiration for what the space could be.

You Know What The Say...

What's old is new again. That's a saying, right? I always think it's really cool to see things get second, third, or even fourth lives.

The owners recently held an open house and posted pictures to their Facebook page, so we can get a peek at what they've done with the place. They dressed up three sections of the building and turned them into rentable studios. They decorated them and basically have them ready to go and staged for you.

So, while this isn't a place most of us will frequent, it is definitely a much-needed opportunity for our local photogs can utilize.
