Today A North Dakota City Lost Another Loved Restaurant
It truly is like losing a best friend
Since I moved to North Dakota almost 12 years ago, I, just like everyone else, have seen businesses close their doors for good - some of them just retire, some had to because of COVID ( remember those days? ) - any which way you look at it, it's sad when it happens. Here is the thing: it's not easy running your own business, and people who work in restaurants will tell you the same. Imagine having to say "Goodbye" after 30 years of taking care of people - that's exactly what a restaurant in Minot did today.

The Ground Round Grill & Bar in Minot announced closing their doors as of today, October 23, 2025
There were a few rumors that the one in Bismarck was closing as well, but that is false. The Minot location first opened its doors back on December 6th, 1994. The real rumors about them closing turned out to be true, unfortunately. According to minotdailynews.com "After 30 years as a gathering place for friends and families, Ground Round Grill & Bar in Minot announced it will officially close its doors at the end of day on Thursday, Oct. 23"
"We are deeply grateful..."
“We are deeply grateful to our loyal guests, employees and the Minot community for nearly three decades of support,” Classic Restaurants Group said in a statement. “This restaurant has been a special place for the Minot community and we’re proud of the memories made here."
Always sad, like losing a close friend
The Bismarck location said it will honor all gift cards from the Minot restaurant.
