Painful At The Pump In Bismarck: How High Could It Go In 2022?
Gas prices have been on the rise since the calendar flipped to 2022.
Yesterday, in Bismarck Mandan most stations increased their prices up another 10 cents a gallon to a whopping $3.39. YIKES!
According to an article from GasBuddy earlier this year, gas prices are expected to rise from 2021's $3.02 to a 2022 yearly national average of $3.41 per gallon. We are just about there already in Bismarck Mandan. What's scarier in the article is that we could see a nationwide average of $4.00 by Memorial Day across the country. What's worse for places like California they could see $5.00 to $6.00 dollar plus gas.
So why the big jump this year?
It's being blamed on more people driving in 2022 as more people go back to work after fears of the pandemic are fading. Experts are saying higher gas prices mean a stronger economy. I'm not so sure the average American would agree with that statement, including myself. When you're spending more money on fuel that means less money for vacations, money spent for home improvements, buying new vehicles, and even buying necessities like food.
You can expect prices to continue to rise for the first half of 2022 with prices leveling off around Memorial Day but prices will remain high through the rest of the summer. According to GasBuddy, higher prices attract additional oil supply, which will hopefully help prices to drop as we end 2022.
If you drive a gas guzzler it's really going to hurt to fill up.
That means pick-up and SUV owners like myself can expect to drop anywhere from $80 to $100 just to fill up your tank. Yep, it's going to be a painful year at the pump. Looks like a lot of "stay-cations" in 2022.
