Just how is the shutdown affecting government business in the Peace Garden State?

The National Park System is stay partially open in North Dakota - despite the national partial government shutdown.

The Bismarck Tribune reported this week that park roads, lookout and trails at Theodore Roosevelt National Park and Knife River Village Historic Site are open.

Emergency and rescue services, however, are operating on a "limited" basis.

The trails outside the fort walls at Fort Union Trading Post Historic Site are open, but the fort itself and the visitor center are closed for the duration of the shutdown.

In addition, the Department of Transportation reports visitor services, rest rooms and trash removal at rest stops have been suspended for the duration.

Social media and websites for government services are not being monitored and updated as much as normal. The Department of Transportation road map is up but may not be updated.
