A new bill proposed in the North Dakota House would prohibit sex offenders from being within 500 feet of a school or other childcare facility.

It's kind of hard to believe this law does not already exist.

But the law is pretty straightforward. Anyone who is a sex offender may not reside or loiter within 500 feet of, "a childcare facility or provider, or a public or nonpublic preschool or elementary, middle, or high school."

The bill was introduced by Representative Lisa Meier.
