Let's all remember what this weekend is all about

For many, a three-day weekend is exactly that - a chance to sleep in, plan an outdoor backyard barbeque maybe ( if the weather cooperates, of course ) -  AND enjoy taking a Monday off from work. I get it, but what really is important is that people know what Memorial Day - Monday, May 26th - how we all should honor it.

Memorial Day in the United States

This is a day we all honor, mourn, and never forget the men and women of our military who died while serving their country. There is a special event that takes place that makes us all proud, and you will see it if you are out and about on Monday - as a matter of fact "The Avenue Of Flags" will be displayed on these five patriotic holidays: Memorial Day - Flag Day - Independence Day - Labor Day - Veteran's Day

The Bismarck Optimist Club is awesome

The Bismarck Optimist Club places the flags along the route at dawn on each of the five holidays I mentioned above. The flags will fly all day and will be retrieved at dusk. They are responsible for replacement of any flag, pole, or receptacle that is damaged or stolen, upkeep and placement of receptacles, and carefully store the flags and flagpoles throughout the year.
