I was sent these photos from a friend who's an AD Firefighter with the BIA.  A friendly reminder how extremely dry we are, and how fire prevention has to be on our mind.  My friend battled different fires for 5 days in a row last week, mostly around the cities of Cannonball and Selfridge in Sioux County, North Dakota.

According to an article on KX News, the Morton County Commission has declared a Fire Emergency and Burn Ban, effective immediately and until further notice for Morton County in North Dakota.

Here's the latest drought monitor map:

As you can see, we desperately need moisture across most of the state.  It was pretty much like a light switch, the way we went from overly wet during the fall of 19, to virtually no moisture since.  If you remember, during the fall of 19 it was so wet across most of the state, farmers couldn't even get their crops off in the fall.  Now, farmers have to be wondering, will they see the moisture we need to even grow crops this spring?

Here's the latest burn ban restrictions MAP for the state of North Dakota.  As you can see by this map how abnormally dry we are in south-central North Dakota in particular.  Sioux, Morton, Burleigh, Emmons, Mclean, Grant, Oliver, Mercer & McLean all under burn ban restrictions.

Here's a look at what took place last week south of Bismarck Mandan.  Again, so important going forward to be aware of potential fire dangers when you're out and about.  Especially in rural areas.  We have no precipitation forecasted anytime soon.  It's more than likely going to get worse, before it gets better.
