For a minute there, I wasn't sure if today was a holiday or not

Traffic was extremely light today here in Bismarck and Mandan. I wasn't sure if today was a holiday or not. The word from around town last night was that we were going to get hit by a slippery storm, and my fear was that a ton of people were going to have a serious problem getting around, with the roads becoming dangerous. Temps weren't necessarily frigid, and I found our streets became slushy. I actually braced for the worst. The one problem so far is,that the road I usually take home is now closed.

River Road is closed to all traffic at the slide area until further notice

Just when I thought we were all in the clear, I saw this. According to a press release from the Burleigh County Highway Department:

"Effective immediately, River Road is closed to thru traffic between Wilderness Cove
Road and Sandy River Drive due to a landslide. River Road is closed to all traffic at the
slide area until further notice. Burleigh County will continue to monitor the slide and
will start clean-up towards the end of the week once the slide stabilizes, weather
permitting. Mobile message boards will be in place to advise the traveling public of
updates as information becomes available. No Detour will be provided. Drivers
should plan accordingly and use alternate routes. A map showing the closure area is
available on Burleigh County’s Website www.burleigh.gov."

Slow down, and take your time - there is no hurry
