Who doesn't love themselves a good sandwich?

Peanut Butter and Jelly, Ham and Cheese, a Ruben, the Monty Cristo,  Tuna Melt, the BLT (bacon, lettuce, tomato), or my favorite the French dip.  Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner a sandwich always hits the spot.

Sandwich shops are all the rage across the country.

National chains like Subway, Erbert and Gerberts, and Jimmy Johns.  Plenty of local sandwich shops too in the Bismarck Mandan area too like Country House Deli, Which Wich Superior Sandwiches, and Schlotzsky's.

According to mashed, they recently compiled a list of the absolute best sandwich in every state and where to get that sandwich.  They offer no explanation for their data and how they came up with each sandwich for each state, but we'll go ahead and go along with their little article.

So, how about North Dakota's favorite?

As far as North Dakota's favorite sandwich, I can actually say I've been to the joint that makes that particular sandwich.  It comes from a small tucked-away drive-in called the Kegs in downtown Grand Forks.  However, I've never tried the so-called best sandwich in the state.  It is none other than the Sloppy Joe?!  According to the article, the ingredients are pretty simple consisting of ground beef, onions, and tomato sauce.  Whatever the reason, "those ingredients work the kind of wonders no home kitchen can achieve," and there are plenty of customers who think so.

I like Sloppy Joes, but I don't love them.  I may have to give them a try next time I'm back in my hometown of Grand Forks.  Speaking of sandwiches, I'm getting hungry writing this article.  Thank God it's lunchtime.
