The Most Popular Music Genre in North Dakota

With 2017 coming to a close, major streaming services have made it a point to determine what the streaming habits are of listeners throughout the country over the past year.

The free streaming service, Mixcloud, has found what music genres are the most popular in every state. In North Dakota, you may or may not be surprised to learn that "Deep House" is the most popular music genre, according to Mixcloud's research.

The music site, Discogs, says that:

Deep house is a style of house music which fuses elements of Chicago house, jazz-funk, and Detroit techno. Sonic qualities include slower bpm's, fewer vocals, darker emotions, jazz-influences, and dissonant melodies.

Three other states had 'Deep House' as their most popular music genre as well: Montana, Iowa, and Florida. Neighboring Minnesota had the ever-popular 'Hip-Hop' selected as their most popular music genre. You can view the entire map of what the most popular genre is in each state here.
