A new look is underway for our very own Bismarck Larks

The season may be over, but some changes are already underway for a "New Look" for our Bismarck Larks at the Bismarck Municipal Ballpark. Their last home game of the season was back in August 1oth - and almost immediately after some "digging" began - literally. Listen, to the baseball purists who continue to say part of the charm of the game is coming to the ballpark and "smelling the green grass" - well my answer to that is you still have the park across the street from the ballpark!

DID YOU SEE THE FIELD???

The ballpark is under construction this fall and here's why...For the first time since Bismarck Municipal Ballpark was renovated in 2015, the natural grass and playing surface is being replaced with artificial turf.

A big thanks to Bismarck Parks and Recreation District for leading the charge on creating and providing a more consistent playing surface for all teams that play there.

The excavation of the grass began after the final Larks home game (August 10).

The cost of the project is $2.2 million with $1 million being funded by a state park facility grant.

The remaining cost will be funded by the Bismarck Parks and Recreation’s capital projects budget and fundraising efforts.

We can't wait to share progress pictures throughout the fall!

I'm going to guess that saving money on watering the field will be a nice bonus for them.

LOOKS: Things you'd likely see in an awesomely '80s garage

From scandalous bikini calendars to your dad's AMC Gremlin, '80s garages were a treasure trove of adventure, good fun, and sometimes downright danger.
