Yet Another Scam To Be On The Lookout For In ND
When you think about it, WHEN is someone not trying to scam us?
I mean, it comes in every form humanly possible. Your cell phone is one of the targets. First, though, junk mail is obvious, and we still get it delivered to us in the mail. At least we can somewhat clearly see what WE are not interested in. How many times in your life have you had someone call you from an unrecognizable phone number - NOT a telemarketer, but someone trying to pose as someone they are not, trying to scam you of any personal information?
I got burned about 3 years ago when I thought I was buying a PS5 through the internet
$650 bucks - fortunately, my bank has a terrific fraud department, and I was reimbursed. Ever since then, I have always tried to keep my guard up. Just this afternoon, I received a text message from FedEx Ground Rebooking of delivery requests...
The message went on to tell me "...To ensure the safe delivery of your package, please click on the link to reschedule your delivery. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for choosing FedEx." - So what's wrong with this picture?
Here is how you get burned
The Fake Delivery Notifications require you to click on a phony link, which could then install malicious software. Always protect yourself by reporting it to the Federal Trade Commission. Never click anything to open up an address - remember this -according to fedex.com "FedEx does not request, via unsolicited mail, email, or text, any personal information pertaining to your account credentials or identity"
That should say it all right there
