It's nothing new in North Dakota, people reaching out to one another

I mean, one of the first things I heard about North Dakota before I moved here over 11 years ago from San Diego, California, was "North Dakota Nice." Like any new place, that saying couldn't be more accurate.

My favorite saying rings true

I've said this the whole time I've been here - "In California, your car is broken down to the side of the freeway and no one will pull over for help. In North Dakota, the same scenario, you'll have 10 people stop, and those same people will invite you over for dinner later" - it's just how it is out here, people care.

Here is yet another example that shines bright

A clothing giveaway is all set for THIS Saturday in Bismarck, at the McCabe Church..

According to a press release from earlier this morning:

"The 8th Annual Clothing Giveaway will take place on Saturday, September 13, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at McCabe Church’s west parking lot (1030 N 6th St., Bismarck).

This event welcomes everyone in the community. Attendees will find a variety of clothing in all sizes for men, women, children, and infants, as well as shoes, coats, purses, and handbags.

“Our clothing giveaway is open to all—whether you’re looking for warm essentials or enjoy the thrill of finding something special,” says volunteer coordinator Kris Cleary. “We’re passionate about sharing resources and giving new life to clothing, while helping keep useful items out of landfills. Guests can browse through 25–30 tables brimming with coats, shoes, and handbags.”

Food will be served, providing a chance for fun and connection. “Each year, the generosity and spirit of the community truly inspire us,” Cleary adds.

For further details about the Annual Clothing Giveaway, or to volunteer or donate, please contact McCabe Church at 701-255-1160"

Once again, another example of North Dakota Nice" - People who genuinely care about others.
