BisMarket Is Back!

Good news for those of us who love farmers markets! BisMarket is gearing up for its 10th season. Farmers, crafters, and local businesses will come together Saturdays at Kiwanis Park. The goal? Well, that's to showcase everything our local community has to offer. We always want to support our farmers and ranchers and shop local; This is your chance to do just that!

It's Just One Of Those Things

It's so perfect. You wake up early with your family, put on some tennis shoes, throw on a hat to hide your eyes from the morning sun, and you just stroll through the park. You're not in any hurry, you stop at every booth and get a friendly "Hello." It's peace. It's one of those things... one of those feelings you can't quite describe. There's something really special about this ritual.

What You Need To Know:

The BisMarket is hosted by Bismarck Parks and Recreational District every year. It's your chance to listen to live music, grab lunch, and chat with other community members. Be on the lookout for Northern Plains Dance; they will be there throughout the summer. There will also be a variety of art classes, and other fun programs

Something else to note: BisMarket accepts SNAP and has a Double-Up incentive program, where every dollar spent in SNAP dollars is matched ($15 per household, per market).

Opening Day

Opening day in June 4th at Kiwanis Park. I spoke to Claire Lowstuter, the Local Foods Coordinator for BPRD; she says it's going to be an exciting year for the market.

"We are hoping to have some extra fun things for opening day like Mo’s Snow Shack, a balloon artist, and a cooking demo from NDSU. I am also trying to organize a Founders day, where we will introduce some of BisMarket’s founders and ask them to speak about their experiences with starting this farmers market," said Lowstuter.

While some of these events are still in talking stages, I think it's safe to say we would love to see them all happen.
