Last night the NFL Pro draft began - here is where we find out if all the experts are correct with their predictions - who will go number one, will any teams make trades, AND when and where will yet another North Dakota State Bison quarterback head to. We found the answer just the 3rd pick in, as Trey Lance was selected by the San Francisco 49ers. There were no gasps of surprise, several pre-predictions had just turned accurate.

Lance becomes the 3rd straight Bison quarterback that was drafted in the first round. He's the third talented Qb in school history chosen in the NFL draft - Carson Wentz back in 2016 was selected 2nd overall, the highest selection ever for an FCS player, by the Philadelphia Eagles - Easton Stick - with a 49-3 record as a starter at NDSU, finished his college career with the MOST wins by a starting quarterback in NCAA Division I FCS history - he was picked up by the Los Angeles Chargers in the fifth round of the 2019 Draft. Trey compiled 2,935 passing yards and 30 touchdowns when he played for the Bison - leading them to their third straight FCS title.

The top three picks right out of the box last night in the draft are quarterbacks - Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, and Trey Lance. So will Trey see immediate action with San Francisco? Will we see him trot on to the field as their starter when the season begins? Probably not - Jimmy Garoppolo will most likely be the man. This will be a perfect time for Trey to just be patient - learn from a seasoned veteran, get his snaps in, and then when the time is right perform like we all know he can. Looking forward to seeing more people here in town start wearing their Trey Lance San Francisco 49er jersey!
