Authorities say a five year-old boy thrown from the balcony of the Mall of America is hospitalized and reportedly "fighting for his life."

The Fargo Forum reports the Bloomington, Minnesota Police read a statement Saturday in which they described the boy's condition.

“I know there’s been some reports and some concerns about whether or not he is still alive,” the police spokesman said. “He is still receiving care. We just want to acknowledge that this is a horrific situation. The family and this child are in our thoughts and prayers.”

Officials say it happened Friday morning, when a man allegedly pushed the child from the balcony on the third floor of the mall. The child reportedly fell about forty feet.

Police arrested Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, 24, and charged him with attempted homicide. The suspect has reportedly been involved with other violent incidents at the mall.

The boy has been hospitalized in Minneapolis. A family friend has set up a Go-Fund-Me page to raise funds for the boy and his family.
