The fourth annual 'Pucks 4 People' fundraiser will be held Feb. 8 with the game beginning at 2:15 p.m. at the All Seasons Arena, Mandan.

'Pucks 4 People' began in 2010 as a way for the Mandan Braves hockey team to contribute to the community. Each year the team picks a local family going through personal struggles to donate the earnings of the game to.

This year, the team voted to give donated funds to the Tom and Lisa Froelich family from Mandan. After collapsing at work, Tom was hospitalized at Sanford Medical Center for three weeks before being transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester during the Christmas season. It was there that Tom was diagnosed with myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle causd by an infection, virus or immune diseases.

North American Coal Freedom Mine is a large sponsor of the event along with Duffy's Hockey and Sports who will be donating jerseys personalized by Halftoned Apparel which will be sold after the game. Fundraisers include a silent auction, free will offering and a raffle where 50 percent of the proceeds will go the the Froelich family.

The Mandan Braves girls hockey team will help run the charity event and the team is asking for advanced donations as well.

Individuals or businesses who wish to donate may send checks payable to MHS Pucks 4 People to the Mandan High School Athletic Department, 905 Eighth Avenue NW, Mandan, ND 58554.
