More Freedom This Summer For Bismarck Electric Scooters

I just saw one of these bad boys standing at full attention across the street from my apartment over the weekend

Here is the funny thing, lately I have heard more people mumble to themselves that "They wish THEY could stay on one of these WITHOUT falling off"  - My first thought is that they probably haven't given it much of a try, I mean sure it's going to take a little getting used to - but the fun and freedom part of getting on one of these and whisking away seems so worth it.

When electric scooters came out there were restrictions complicating the use of them

I guarantee you the very first time you see someone tooling down the street your first thought is "How COOL" - and that is the reaction that most Bismarck and Mandan residents have displayed since they first came out back in 2021. Their "freedom" was restricted thanks to an ordinance. According to bismarcktribune.com  "All types of electric scooters will now be allowed on some Bismarck streets through a recent ordinance update by the City Commission...All motorized scooters can now be operated on public sidewalks and on streets with a posted speed limit of 30 mph or less, in bike lanes, and on sidewalks outside of the central business district"

Now there is "extra time" you can legally get on one if you have the proper equipment...

...which simply means if you have "... at least one headlamp, one tail lamp, and brakes, all in working order." - you can be out a half hour after sunset to a half hour before sunrise - so keep your eyes open for a ton of people with huge smiles on their faces "scooting" out and about in BisMan!
