"Come here Plow...come on boy..."

When NDDOT started getting bored with calling their beloved plow "Plow" - the brilliant idea came about to ask fellow North Dakotans to come up with a catchy nickname for one of their city's snow plows. This is an annual tradition that I think is brilliant. I'll give you an example of some previous winning entries including Buzz Iceclear, Alice Scooper, Darth Blader, and CtrlSaltDelete, among others. This was the fourth year and the entries poured in.

So what do the winners get?

With eight districts in this contest - according to NDDOT "The winners will have the opportunity to meet with the operator of the plow they named, as well as have their snowplow name permanently displayed on the plow" Over 5oo snowplow name ideas were submitted - and the winners were chosen by NDDOT employee vote. “We’ve been impressed with the quality of submissions we get every year. It’s clear North Dakotans enjoy the challenge and put real thought into these names,” said NDDOT Director Ron Henke. “It opens the door for us to talk about winter driving and provide tips on driving safely around snowplows.”

Here are your District winners:  My favorite is Fargo District's nickname

•    Bismarck District: Snow Force One
•    Devils Lake District: Optimus Brine
•    Dickinson District: Mr. Snowjangles
•    Fargo District: Clearapathra
•    Grand Forks District: Plower Ranger
•    Minot District: Iron Bladen
•    Valley City District: Sled Zeppelin
•    Williston District: Catch My Drift

Great job to all who participated - very impressed.
