Relive The Day The Bismarck Police Department Was Pranked
"Now what day could that possibly have been?" - An obvious one, of course
We here in the media have been told a thousand times over, with a very polite e-mail about a week before - "Please think twice before you even attempt any wacky pranks "on-the-air" - informing your listeners of false information can cause more problems than you'll ever know - so don't do it!"
If you haven't figured it out yet, I am talking about April Fool's Day, which falls tomorrow
I was living in San Diego, California, when one of THE most amazing April Fool's Day pranks baffled over 2,000 people - 1993 - my friend Dave Rickards set the stage - the Space Shuttle needed to come down to Earth early, and a tiny airport by the name of Montgomery Field - IN San Diego - was selected- Check it out:
The San Diego Police didn't get the joke at all
San Diego Police wanted to send the bill to the radio station for "The extra staff" they had to have for crowd control. So here at home, the Bismarck Police Department issued their own friendly little warning back in 2019:
"We would just like to clarify that this will never EVER be considered a funny April Fool's joke. In fact, it may even be a felony. Seriously, just don't do it. We simply won't tolerate such shenanigans! #aprilfools #youcallthemdonuts #wecallthempowerrings"
I have to tell you this, after personally experiencing the goodness of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts .....
If I were a Bismarck Police officer that day, and had this delivered to me, and I opened the box to see this...
...There would be arrest warrants flying all around :)
SO, Happy April Fool's Day tomorrow!!!
