Shocking Videos And Pictures From Bismarck’s Fury
That's exactly what it was late yesterday afternoon - FURY
From our radio station here in Mandan, right around 5:00 pm, we stood in our lobby waiting for some kind of break in the MONSOON weather conditions that hit us. We finally dashed out to our separate cars and drove off - unbeknownst to any of us we were headed towards major delays in traffic AND floods.
For some it was time to break out the canoes
As you see in this video Michelle Van Horn Farnsworth on her Facebook page, it was the perfect time for some to break out their canoe.
There were some tense moments around Bismarck...
...and I was one of many that were rattled by the FURY. Was this just a light dusting? Absolutely not - according to kfyrtv.com "Rain amounts have varied throughout Bismarck, with some areas reporting totals of nearly four inches north of the State Capitol grounds, and 2.75 inches in north Bismarck over a short duration of less than an hour" I came across several deep ponds of water that my car barely made it through - I noticed some people didn't have that luck - as they left their car stalled. One business downtown felt and saw the FURY. Troy Barber from the Red Wings store on East Broadway had this to deal with.
Several streets were left completely flooded
After taking over an hour to get home, I sat there on my couch with some thoughts swirling inside my head
Once again I was one of the lucky ones who made it through the many flooded areas - I felt so bad for people who were pushing their cars off to the side - that was a dangerous hour or so, and it really did pack a punch. I came in this morning and saw this wonderful picture - says it all about North Dakotans - about strangers caring for one another - Thank you, Jenny Miller, for sharing this.
