This Hasn’t Been In Bismarck For 46 Years
When was the last time you boarded a train?
Not a trolley or anything like that, I mean a full-fledged train. Trains are extremely comfortable, and if you have never been on one, then quite possibly you have no idea what Vestibule means. We have all seen people move between cars on a long train in the movies, making their way to the dining car, perhaps. When I lived in Minot, North Dakota, I would drive by their train station all the time, begging me to get on one of those. Bismarck has been without one since 1979.
Amtrak Plans to Restore Passenger Rail Service in Bismarck Soon
How cool would this be? Imagine taking a trip from here to Minot, hanging out for the day, and coming back. According to railway.supply - kfyrtv.com
"Amtrak may soon return to Bismarck, reviving passenger rail service that has been absent since 1979 and offering travelers a vital link between Chicago and Seattle through the historic North Coast Hiawatha route. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has launched an in-depth study to evaluate benefits and challenges. Officials believe the project could strengthen regional connectivity and provide sustainable travel alternatives for both residents and visitors"
So is this going to happen? Only time will tell
"No timeline has been confirmed yet, but momentum is growing. Leaders view this initiative as part of a broader national trend toward rail investment. If approved, Amtrak’s return to Bismarck could redefine regional travel and deliver lasting economic benefits"
