Bret Michaels Says Poison ‘Will Do Something Special’ in 2016

Despite a three-year spell of inactivity, which has led to some sniping in the press, Bret Michaels insists that Poison is still together. In a new interview, he even said that fans can expect to hear from them at some point in 2016.

"We have never broken up, even though we all go on and do other things," he told the Lancaster (Ohio) Eagle-Gazette. "We are brothers. Next year will be the [32nd] anniversary and I'm sure we'll do something special."

But before we get all excited about the possibility of Poison going out on the road next year, it should be remembered that, around this time last year, Michaels was talking about the possibility of a tour this summer, which never materialized. “In 2015...I’m thinking — not officially going on record, but rumoring," he said. "I’m just thinking of reuniting all of the original – ’cause we can’t go out with all of the original guys. It’s gotta be CC [Deville], Bobby [Dall] and myself and I think we’re going to have to throw a mega Poison summer bash together next year.”

Poison's last tour took place in 2012. Since then, drummer Rikki Rockett has suggested a few times that Michaels is the one holding back any future project for the group. His most recent salvo was back in August, when he said, "I just think that at this point in time, he just prefers to do his own thing. Bret has his own way of doing things and I’m getting the feeling that he’d prefer not to deal with the three of us if he can avoid it." But he then admitted, "Look, I’m making that up in my head. I can’t think of any other reason."

The group's last album of new material was 2002's Hollyweird. Back in 2007, they released Poison'd, an album of covers.
