Families Finding Homes In Bismarck – A New Start
We all saw the devastation and wreckage of the fire earlier this month in Bismarck
Our hearts went out to everyone who lost their home back in May. Later in the afternoon on the 5th of May, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a call of an apartment fire located on the 4000 block of Lockport Street. Thankfully, no reported injuries to any of the occupants ( one firefighter had a non-life-threatening injury ), and the three-story building was evacuated.
As the days and weeks went by, so many reports of amazing hope and contributions were offered
Everything from living essentials to even offering fire victims free shoes, Bismarck, Mandan, and Lincoln really stepped up in helping out those in need. Displaced residents were able to reach out to emergency shelters, meals, and medical assistance. The biggest concern of all while the fire was spreading that day was human life, and fortunately, there were none.
Where did some families end up?
The outpour of our community said it all - North Dakotans helping one another. According to kxnet.com there are more and more families affected by the fire from earlier this month are now finding new homes. "This week, volunteers from ND Lions Emergency Relief say they and Metro Plains Management have helped to place about 25 families in new homes.Almost 70 families lost their home in this month’s fire at Alberta Heights Apartments. This week, organizers invited tenants to Mandan to share more information on resources that can help them"
A new start.
