A controversial movie is moving to Montana to resume production.

The yet to be released western film "Rust," which has undergone a year of both legal battles and considerable upheaval in the court of public opinion, will continue filming in Montana.

This spring, Rust will relocate from its New Mexico backdrop to the Yellowstone Film Ranch in Montana after finding a new location.

Alec Baldwin, 64, will continue to star in the Joel Souza-helmed Western movie despite being charged with involuntary manslaughter in the murder of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

On October 21, 2021, live ammunition was inadvertently inserted into a firearm fired by Baldwin while practicing a scene in a church. This resulted in the death of Hutchins on the Western movie set in New Mexico and the injury of Souza by a bullet. Since then, Baldwin has denied that he was the one who fired the shot that killed Hutchins.

Yellowstone Ranch's Western Backlot is "set in Montana's picturesque Paradise Valley and imaginatively fashioned after a gold rush town from the late 1800s. A 360-degree panorama of glacier-capped mountain peaks, undulating hills, and Emigrant Peak is provided by the great expanse of sagebrush and woodland tranquility."

Production services include local crew members, lodging, transportation, catering and equipment rentals. Montana offers film productions a tax incentive, ranging from 20-35% of production costs.

After it was claimed that "Rust" armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed had been involved in an earlier on-set incident, the movie made headlines in October 2021. In connection with the shooting death of Hutchins, Gutierrez Reed was also accused on two counts of involuntary manslaughter.

David Halls, the assistant director, was also accused, but he pleaded guilty to neglegent use of a deadly weapon.
