We see new restaurants pop up in Bismarck-Mandan all the time. We have so many options, and so many great things to choose from. Could we be getting one more option?
The Listing

I had some suspicions that Bismarck could be getting a sonic drive-in because I stumbled upon a job listing. The company was looking for a general manager. Now, you and I both know there is no Sonic in Bismarck.

Take a look at the ad (Below).

See? It clearly shows the position set as Bismarck. It was also posted as recently as last week. Again why would they need a general manager for a Sonic in Bismarck when we don’t have one? It was time to do some investigating.

Oh, We're Going To Find Out

I called the Minot Sonic to see if they might have been looking for a general manager; maybe they were just were reaching out to the Bismarck area for that store.

They told me that was not the case, and that they weren’t looking for a manager. With that, the investigation continued.

I called the Grand Forks Sonic, but couldn’t get through.

I called a Fargo Sonic and finally got an answer to the burning question: are we getting a Sonic in Bismarck? As it turns out, there is a new Sonic that just opened at 5205 27th St. South in Fargo.

This is the second sonic restaurant to open there, and the new one is indeed, looking for a general manager to run it.

Sadly, with this information, I'm afraid it's unlikely we will be getting one anytime soon. I also checked to see if there were any plans to build a Sonic in BisMan, and was told there weren't any at this time.

I can’t say as to why Fargo's Sonic chose to reach out as far as Bismarck for a manager, but who knows maybe someone is willing to relocate for the opportunity.
