Jamestown has been named North Dakota's most affordable city to live in for 2026, according to a new ranking from real estate platform Houzeo.

Some North Dakota cities are more expensive than others, so if you're planning to make a move sometime soon, you might want to check which towns in our state are the most affordable.

Jamestown topped the list with a median home price of $197,000 and average monthly rent of $868; both of these are well below the state averages. Houzeo's ranking was just updated in August of this year (2026), and it made its conclusions based on housing data from the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency and cost-of-living figures, which cover housing, groceries, utilities, transportation, and healthcare

Jamestown being the most affordable city isn't shocking or new, as it earned this same title in last year's report. the cost of living at the time was 19.9% below the national average. Not only that, but the property taxes in Jamestown average at $2,193, which is the lowest in the state. Daily commutes are also quite convenient for Jamestown residents, with them spending only about 12 minutes in the car.
