New Casino Project in North Dakota Moves Closer to Opening
It looks like a North Dakota city will soon have a new hub for gaming and entertainment. According to DSGW Architecture, a new casino is being built in the city of White Shield.
If you don't know, White Shield is a small community located in McClean County on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation right off of the 1804 Highway. The entertainment and gaming industry has been expanding and growing over the last couple of years, and this will be its latest addition to our state.

Son of Star Casino
The project has been underway for some time (announced in 2023), but now it's really starting to take shape, and North Dakota residents are getting excited with the progress. According to the source, this new casino will reflect the heritage of the White Shield East Segment Arikara Nation. What's unique and interesting about the design of this new facility is that it's being built in a circular, domed shape, and each section will incorporate a theme of earth, water, wind, and fire. There will be murals, sculptures, graphics, and beautiful artwork all throughout. When completed, the casino will measure approximately 37,000 sq ft.
Gaming
You can expect to see 3 table games, 200 slot machines, meeting rooms, an entertainment stage, sports betting, a gift shop, and a 24-hour coffee shop. Not only that, but it's also being built with future expansion in mind. Think an 80-room hotel, extra gaming space, golf simulators, arcade games, and bowling. Sounds like quite the place, doesn't it? It is set to open sometime this summer, just south of the powwow grounds.
