Severe Weather Outbreak

UPDATE: Tornado Watch for the entire listening area until 12 midnight tonight. Here's the latest from the National Weather Service.

Buckle up, Bismarck-Mandan, and all of North Dakota, for that matter. Virtually the entire state is ripe for powerful thunderstorms to develop after a hot, humid, and windy day. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Level 3 alert for severe weather for most of the state.

Toasty Tuesday

We are expecting very windy weather again today (what's new), strong south winds 20 to 40 miles per hour, with hot and sticky weather (temps pushing the lower 90s), which will set the stage for some fireworks tonight that will resemble a Bismarck Larks baseball game.

Impacts for Today's Storms

The National Weather Service is saying all hazards are in play. Damaging winds as high as 80 miles per hour, large hail the size of tennis balls, and a few tornadoes, one or two of which could be strong.

The Timeline for Developement

The National Weather Service is saying storms will start to develop after 3 pm this afternoon, but will become more widespread after 5 pm. Storms could stick around until late this evening. It would be a good bet that a Severe Thunderstorm Watch will be issued at some point today for the Capital Region. Please have a plan of action for your family to keep them safe. We will keep you updated on this radio station with our meteorologists from Severe Weather Studios.
