Missing Bismarck Man’s Body Found
Information just released a few hours ago
A 41-year-old Bismarck man missing since last October sadly was found last Sunday evening in Emmons County. Police with the help of an autopsy were able to identify him yesterday. More information was not released until this afternoon to allow the family to make notifications.
Body of Missing Person Matthew Mittelsteadt Found in Emmons County
That headline above is what we first found out through the police. Anyone who has gone through the terrifying ordeal of having a family member or friend go missing can relate to the agony of waiting for the body to be correctly identified. Here is what the police just released:
"A missing 41-year-old Bismarck man has been identified today as the person located along the shores of Lake Oahe on Sunday evening in Emmons County. Matthew Mittelsteadt was reported missing on November 21, 2023, to the Bismarck Police Department. Detectives were able to find his vehicle around W Main Ave and Fraine Barracks Rd. Through video surveillance in the area, BPD Investigators were able to determine he parked in that area around 2:45 pm on October 30, 2023, and walked to the Memorial Bridge but was never seen walking back to his car.
Mittelsteadt was found in Emmons County on the shores of Lake Oahe Sunday evening and brought to the Medical Examiners office in Bismarck. An autopsy was conducted yesterday, and his identity confirmed. Foul play is not suspected"
