BisMan’s Polite Girl Scouts – “It’s Ok If You Don’t Buy Any”
I've never had an issue before when it comes to Girl Scouts season
It usually happens pretty quickly and unexpectedly. There you are, walking into the store, and about 10 feet away, you see the familiar green table setting, with a huge "THANK YOU" and the sparkling boxes of cookies awaiting your approval and purchase. One thing I have noticed this year is that every single Girl Scout, mother, or father I have come across has been extremely polite - there is no sense of urgency or feeling guilty if you DON'T buy any. This was the case once again when I walked across the street to our neighbor, Cennex Gas Station, here in Mandan.

Inside was Rose Harvey ( Troop 87058 ) and her mom, Brittany
Of course, right away, I was greeted with a HUGE simple welcome smile. You see, the stigma with some people in the past is that everywhere they go, they claim they are besieged with "Would you like to buy some Girl Scout Cookies???" Personally, I haven't been asked that once this season. So I had some questions to ask:
1) What seems to be the most popular GS Cookie this year?
Exploremores - best selling by far
AND one more thing -
2) What are the top 3 reasons ( or excuses ) WHY people don't buy cookies?
A) "Sorry, I don't have any cash on me..."
B) "Ah man, I just bought some from another Girl Scout..."
C) "I'm a diabetic and I can't buy sugar..."
I had no excuse by the way...HOWEVER, I will try Exploremores!
HUGE Thank you goes out to Melanie Ryckman - proud grandmother and TOO shy to be in any pictures :)
