We're only a few days away from the Polar Plunge at Captain Freddy's, which will help benefit the North Dakota National Guard! Jumping in freezing cold water isn't exactly the most natural thing...So, here's a few tips that might help you out!

  • 1

    Bring Warm Clothes

Obviously, you're going to want to change out of your plunge attire immediately after you get out of the water. So, bring a change of clothes that'll be easy to get on.

  • 2

    Bring A Friend

You're jumping into ice cold water...So, do you really want to be alone? Bring a friend to take pictures, hold onto your stuff, and cheer you on! You're probably going to need a little helpful encouragement to actually make the jump anyway.

  • 3

    Get To Captain Freddy's Early

Getting to Captain Freddy's early will give your body enough time to acclimate to the cold weather. That way, you'll be more prepared to hit the frigid water when you jump.

  • 4

    Wear A Hat

Over 50% of your body temperature is lost through your head, so wearing a hat will definitely help you before the plunge.

    Enjoy A Warm Meal After

This isn't so much a preparation element as it is a "Hey, I just jumped into freezing cold water! I deserve an awesome meal" element. Lucky for you, Captain Freddy's has AWESOME food.
