UMary Men’s & Women’s Basketball + Make-A-Wish ND = Slam Dunk
A beautiful school teaming up tomorrow along with Make-A-Wish North Dakota
I say beautiful in every way - location, and people who work and attend school there. Tomorrow both UMary Men and Women's basketball teams have home games scheduled - obviously, they won't play at the SAME time - even better. You see the Marauders want to come out ahead on the scoreboard, but the points won't matter in the long run - helping raise money to help MAKE A WISH come true is the real victory.
Make-A-Wish North Dakota is the focus of the University of Mary Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)...
Huge thanks to Sophia Janssen for assisting me with this article - She is a big part of the University of Mary Athletics Department - she was on the air with us last week, and when she mentioned Make-A-Wish-North Dakota I was hooked. In my opinion, making a dream come true for younger boys and girls is what life is all about. According to Cooper Jones - ( Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics - University of Mary )
"Make-A-Wish North Dakota is the focus of the University of Mary Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) when the Marauders host a men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader against St. Cloud State University on Tuesday, December 12, at the McDowell Activity Center.
The UMary-SCSU men’s game tips off at 4 pm. The Marauders-Huskies women’s game is slated for 6 pm.
Marauders Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is accepting donations throughout the two Northern Sun games to support Make-A-Wish North Dakota, which grants wishes to local children who have a critical illness, like cancer, a heart condition, or nervous system disorder. There are more than 17 kids in Bismarck-Mandan alone waiting for their wish to come true.
A local Make-A-Wish child will be honored during the Marauders-Huskies games.
Throughout the night Marauders SAAC members will hold a Miricle Minute and Star donations to help each wish come true.
Marauders SAAC is composed of members from each athletic team at UMary and provides scholar-athlete feedback to campus, conference and national issues to Marauders Athletics.
The NCAA Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has a long-standing relationship with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Division II SAAC established the Make-A-Wish partnership in 2003 and has raised more than $6.8 million toward granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Over 785 “wishes” have been granted through Division II contributions. These wishes can serve as a game changer in children’s fights against their illnesses, helping them feel better, and in some cases even get better"
So good luck to the Marauders! To me, this is a slam dunk event.
