Let's file this one under GENIUS! According to KFYR-TV, a Grand Forks man is in custody after trying to run from the police, first in a car then on foot.

It started Saturday night when Grand Forks police pulled over 27-year-old Cory Hanson for a traffic violation. During the stop, Hanson decided to leave the scene which started a high-speed chase through the city. Hanson ran through red lights, stop signs, hit a parked police cruiser and even wrecked the front porch of a house during his chase.

Here is where the genius comes in to play. Hanson ditched his car and took off on foot. Grand Forks police set up a perimeter and then tracked the suspect by using his foot-prints in the snow. Cops actually followed the suspect to where he was hiding and booked Hanson.

He was booked into the  Grand Forks County Correctional Center and was charged with driving under the influence, reckless endangerment and other charges.
