BisMan -Your HEART Touches 233 Families -680 Children This Xmas

It doesn't matter if it's ONLY a small toy or a stuffed brown bear...

...for this holiday season, there will be happy children smiling - and parents feeling the spirit of Christmas. Recently Townsquare Media was outside Scheels, inside Kirkwood Mall -Operation Christmas Morning! So many people dropped by on that Friday to donate an unwrapped toy - As they nodded to us in our tent, everyone shared a common goal - to provide a child in Bismark/Mandan something to love this holiday.

I dropped by the Salvation Army this morning

I was greeted out in the parking lot by Major Nelson De La Verne. He was with us at Operation Christmas Morning. I spent some time hearing about what the Salvation Army does for the families that come by and are led through all the amazing toys, clothing, and other items that have been donated. I wasn't expecting a lump in my throat when I could see all the smiles of the volunteers and the look of such gratitude and love from those who were there  - who needed a hand this Christmas - like Nicole Herman.

A mother of 5 - times have been rough for her this year - the perfect place to be today was the Salvation Army - along with volunteer Genie Kolberg. "It wouldn't be possible if there weren't the people who donated. I'm grateful for the people who do it"

The last day is tomorrow

Major told me this began yesterday and will end tomorrow ( Wednesday ) - This is an incredible tradition that has taken place well over 30 years. I walked up and down the aisles of clothes hanging all in a row - I stood there in awe thinking of how many families - how many young kids would have something to call their own Christmas morning. I looked at the volunteers with non-stop smiles on their faces - I walked into the Salvation Army chapel and felt the warmth of what the holidays are all about - people caring and giving for one another.
