Ahh, that time of year when the trees become bare - when you can finally see across the street...

...when that constant "swish-swish-swish" sound is heard as people come and go, stirring up the leaves like a good old-fashioned Charlie Brown cartoon. Do you remember the days when you and your friends collected all the leaves into a pile and one of you took a running start and took a huge leap onto the foliage? Maybe this will remind you...

Not once did we ever even think of TOO MANY LEAVES could be a bad thing

But now that I brought that up, "Is TOO MANY LEAVES a bad thing...for your lawn?" When is it time to gather all the available arms and rakes you can find and start CLEANING up the area - Here is what some experts are saying about letting them "lay where they fall" - according to southernliving.com "Regularly raking leaves helps your lawn breathe and stay healthy [by] allowing sunlight and air to penetrate the lawn canopy,  preventing disease and promoting grass growth." - I mean don't panic if the leaves are starting to get heavy - the rule of thumb is if you can't see the grass then it's a problem.

"Do not leave piles of leaves on your lawn. This might smother and kill the grass."

Words from another expert. I know what your next question is - "Well what can I do about it?" - One such answer would be to mow your grass. "Mowing the leaves breaks them up into smaller pieces, which help add organic matter to the soil," That makes sense to me. My only suggestion is to...have fun ( live a little ), then rake away as often as you can.
