Think back to when you were in school - elementary, junior high, high school, and then college

Most of us barely remember our teachers, at least I don't. The exceptions, of course, would be the ones that touched our lives - leading by example. Whether it was their personality and teaching skills or just that certain something that separated them from the rest. For one Bismarck teacher, courage is what EVERYONE will remember.

His name is Chris Cavanaugh - a Bismarck teacher for 34 years

I have no experience in teaching High School, so I haven't the slightest clue of the stress that he and any other teacher face. I also think that many of us take for granted just how important that job is - dealing with today's world and watching students deal with their lives and interests. The pressure has to be enormous for teachers.

Cavanaugh could have suffered brain damage

Now try and imagine dealing with everything I just said while having two near-death experiences recently. According to Kfyrtv.com back on January 20th, he got up and felt like a "400-pound lineman was on my chest" - Cavanugh said " He said he was only able to get one sock on before he knew he had to call 911. He said EMS arrived in minutes— he even gave them his garage door code so they wouldn’t have to break his door down“They put the paddles on me. I think they brought me back twice, is what I was told,”

Here is the incredible part

He was back teaching at Bismarck High School in less than a week after his frightening ordeal.

Adventures were plentiful in the domain of your family's patriarch who saw no use for rules - unless he was the one making them. From rusty tools to a stack of filthy magazines, Grandpa's garage was a land of mystery and danger.
