Well hey, you could have been driving around for years without an incident

This just came out recently - and it made me stop and think, have I ever driven a truck or an automobile that was recalled? Here is what foxbusiness.com reported "Ford announced Tuesday that it's issuing a recall for the 2014 model year F-150 pickup trucks because they can unexpectedly downshift into the first gear and cause the driver to lose control or the rear wheels to lock up..."

Here is the danger of that happening

With a loss of signal, some dangerous things could happen - like your transmission could downshift -possibly damage your engine - and quite likely cause an accident. It's no secret that a Ford 150 truck is one of the most popular vehicles you'll see on the roads out here in North Dakota.

Just how many truck recalls are we talking about?

Quite a bit I would say - "...The recall covers 668,000 Ford F-150 trucks worldwide, including 552,000 in the U.S. Ford said it's aware of 300 warranty reports, 96 field reports and 124 customer complaints covering 482 vehicles related to the unexpected downshifting on the 2014 F-150" foxbusiness.com added. The fix to this problem is  "in the form of a software update performed by dealers on the powertrain control module software, to be available in Q3 2024"

This isn't the first time Ford 150s have been recalled

The article continued "In 2016, Ford recalled 153,000 2011-2012 Ford F-150 vehicles equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions to address the downshift issue" - As you're driving home tonight, take a look at all the Ford 150s that are around you.
