North Dakotans-Hardest Workers In The United States.
Listen, where is my enlarged foam hand with the number one gesture firmly pointing to the heavens when I need it? In an article written by Adam McAnn, Wallethub has some interesting news about the workforce in America - North Dakota ranks number one as being the hardest working state in the U.S. The World Economic Forum has come out to say that Americans put in nearly 1,780 hours per year as of 2019. Here is the crazy part, you would think most people crave their vacation time and use every second of it, NOT TRUE. The average American only uses 54% of their available vacation time. Why do dome folks not take advantage of the time off? The answer to that is that many fear they will appear to be "less dedicated" than others and be a target of getting a layoff.
This year though really shouldn't count and impossible to compare to last year's statistics thanks to the coronavirus, with so many people having been laid off or have just flat-out lost their jobs permanently. So why is North Dakota listed as number one? In order to determine where the hardest-working Americans live, WalletHub compared the 50 states across two key dimensions: “Direct Work Factors” and “Indirect Work Factors.” We evaluated those dimensions using ten key metrics, which are listed below with their corresponding weights. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the “hardest-working.” Several categories North Dakota came out number one - Highest Employment Rate / Lowest Idle Youth Rate and a close second to Alaska in Highest Average Workweek Hours.
Now I recommend not bragging away to everybody about this newly found achievement, and probably not a good idea to run to your boss and ask for a raise, BUT we can all take pride in our work and be grateful for the opportunity to have a job in this crazy year.
